WRC Rally Ireland 2007
When it was announced that Ireland had secured a slot on the 2007 WRC calendar there was no way I was going to miss it!
The event dealt up a big entry full of not only the top drivers in the world but some rapid local crews many in the hands of WRC cars. The November date was always destined for the wet weather that occurred, leaving the roads as slippery as ice and action aplenty!
The rally was won by World Champion Sebastien Loeb from his team mate Dani Sordo. Many of the top boys were caught out by the conditions (see the Sordo photos!). Marcus Gronholm was one of many to find the going tough, putting his focus in a wall mid way through day 1, pretty much ending any hopes of the championship.
Although we got soaked and slept in a car for 5 days, it was worth it!
